Automated Imaging – Technology Makes The Difference

SYNENTEC’s fully automated high throughput cell imaging systems are designed for the characterization of cells as a significant step of your research, development and production process.

Using image cytometry with Cellavista® 4th and NyONE® many labor intensive processes can be optimized: images from a large number of samples are automatically converted into unbiased numbers for cell culture status with our YT‑software®, which is constantly being expanded.

Our systems generate high resolution images to resolve every tiny detail, necessary to identify and classify individual cells like the one you need to find or to count it as one of many in a cell culture plate.

We know that time is an increasingly scare resource these days. Therefore we developed also automated high throughput SYBOT-800® plate handler as well as ready-to-use Assay-Kits for complete one-hand solutions!

  1. Different system configurations like e.g. basic systems with brightfield only or customized filter and objective lenses set-ups are available
  2. Throughput per day depends on experiment configurations (e.g. exposure time, plate type, focus options, # of imaging channels…)
  3. Cellavista® can be equipped with the ibidi® heating and incubation system (other systems not tested). Due to pH-shift and consequent cell stress a heating option only is not recommended
  4. Cellavista® and NyONE® both running with the same image analysis software contain the same image analysis options – differences in application-sequence serve only as a recommendation and are hardware-related (different white light unit, camera chip, fluorescence channels…)

Cloning

Differences in throughput between Cellavista® and NyONE® mainly arises due to the different chip size of the camera. Therefore a different number of images per well must be taken which, in turn, affects the measurement time and the throughput:

Viability

The Trypan Blue viability test is a widely used technique to determine the cell number and the culture viability. SYNENTEC ported the classical Trypan Blue staining method to NyONE® and Cellavista® in a plate based approach. Both automated cell imaging systems will carry out the Trypan Blue assay as whole-well measurements in 96 well microplates with significantly increasing the throughput (5 minutes per 96 samples). This will dramatically reduce the time-to-result as well as costs. Both systems require a sample volume of just 20 µl which is ideal for a culture run dealing with low culture volume in total.

If the Trypan Blue viability assay is your main application, the NyONE® cell imager fits perfectly your needs!

iPS cells

Due to the high performance white light unit of the Cellavista® sophisticated brightfield applications with week contrast, such as iPS-cell characterization, are ideal for the Cellavista® imaging system. Depending on your cell morphology and experimental composition the NyONE® is also sufficient for your stem cell application.

Fluorescence Assays

The NyONE® is equipped with 4 FL excitation channels and with up to 6 detection wavelengths which covers approx. 80% of all FL dyes. (like Dapi®, eGFP, mCherry and Alexa®647)
3 different lenses (4x to 20x) allow many different methods to pick up FL signals which can be useful to gain throughput or to get a more detailed view inside of the cell.
The outstanding stitching quality of the NyONE® guarantees a non-overlapping full well imaging of your sample even by using the highest resolution of the 20x (0.53 µm/px)
Weak FL signals will be detected due to the high power excitation in combination with the sensitive camera used for the NyONE® setup.

The Cellavista® is equipped with 2 more fluorescent channels than the NyONE® and is therefore more versatile for fluorescence applications, especially ICC and IHC staining, due to the additional 40x magnification. Nevertheless most of the commonly used fluorophores like Dapi®, eGFP, mCherry and Alexa®647 can be measured with the NyONE®.
